Please note that this session will be delivered in a blended format with some in-person services being offered. If this changes you will be updated prior to the start of the session.
Skills Compass focuses on newcomer youth aged 18 – 30. This pre-employment program will include 10 weeks of in- class small group employment skills and communication training, one-to-one career coaching, help with developing a career plan, resume writing, interview skills training; and up to 12-weeks of a Quality Employment Opportunity. Youth in the program will have the chance to obtain trainings or certifications that will help them to achieve employment, as they pertain to their individual employment action plans. These may include First Aid and CPR and WHMIS.
Each person enrolled in the program will be paid an allowance. Participants will receive a $500 bonus after successfully completing their Quality Employment Opportunity.
Individuals interested in participating in this intake are required to have reliable internet access and access to a computer with video conferencing capability.
Only 15 participants will be selected to start the intake.
The Skills Compass program is open to:
- Young adults aged 18 - 30
- Permanent resident or refugee
- Eligible to work in Canada
Each participant is required to complete an interview prior to being accepted into the program as well as fulfill other mandatory application requirements.
