Bow Valley College and UNESCO-UNEVOC
The UNEVOC Network is an exclusive global platform for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) with the aim to further cooperation between institutions worldwide. The UNEVOC Network, coordinated by the UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre, is made up of UNEVOC Centres, which are established in TVET institutions and serve as focal points in the provision of services and platforms for international and regional cooperation in TVET. Bow Valley College is a UNEVOC centre.

International Awards and Scholarships
The International Education Department offers a selection of 22 scholarships and awards focused on international learners. There are Entrance Scholarships for our new learners, Learner Pathway Awards for learners transitioning from one program to another, In-course Awards for current learners. Our awards celebrate learners who demonstrate strength in attributes of leadership, volunteerism, community involvement, peer support and academic excellence.

Derek Lemieux
Derek Lemieux brings a diverse and collaborative background to the role of Director, International Education at Bow Valley College. Derek’s expertise in mentorship, academic advising, and cross-cultural competency have assisted in developing successful projects, teams, and relationships in his more than 10 years of experience with international teams. Derek has worked collaboratively with senior administrators at all levels to be responsive to opportunities and changing market demands by launching new products and services, providing mobility opportunities for learners and staff, managing international development projects, and supporting skilled interculturally competent graduates.
Derek completed a Business Administration diploma at Algonquin College, a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Ottawa and is currently completing a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies at Royal Roads University. He is also TESOL certified and an Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) Qualified Administrator.
Most recently, Derek served as the Director, International at Coast Mountain College in British Columbia where he built an international education department from the ground up. Additionally, he also served as a mentor for the British Columbia Council for International Education (BCCIE) where he mentored the 2018 BCCIE Rising Star in International Education award recipient after winning the same award in 2017.
