Black History At Bow Valley College
This year for Black History Month at Bow Valley College, we celebrated and elevated the voices of some black members of our BVC community – allowing them to tell their stories in their words. This resulted inspiring tales and historical lessons which gave us a deeper appreciation of the significance of Black History Month. Check-out a few of our favourite features.
1. Dr. Misheck Mwaba
Dr. Misheck Mwaba, President and CEO of Bow Valley College, is a compassionate and thoughtful leader who is inspired by black voices in the arts. 2. Kudzai Ngwerume
A vital part of our Learner Success Services team, Kudzai Ngwerume helps our BVC learners with their mental health, personal, and academic concerns. Kudzai’s passion for helping others can be, in part, attributed to the impact of Canadian politician and advocate for social justice, Honourble Jean Augustine. 3. Shawn Murray
Shawn is a Marketing Specialist and valued member of the Marketing and Communications team here at Bow Valley College. He brings his can-do attitude to the team, helping us flawlessly execute our marketing needs. Shawn is inspired by Canadian track athlete Harry Jerome and his “never give up” approach to life. 4. Amanda Okafor
Amanda Okafor – BVC Learner Success Advisor. Amanda works closely with BVC learners to address their barriers to academic success.
