Explore employment opportunities at the Justice Studies Career Showcase

Bow Valley College is hosting more than 20 companies and organizations from the corrections, law enforcement, and justice fields.

Students looking to kick-start their career in the justice industry can connect with various employers at Bow Valley College’s Justice Studies Career Showcase on February 1, 2023. The Showcase, which will host more than 20 companies and employers in the corrections, law enforcement, and justice fields, will be an opportunity for students at any stage of their program to explore employment opportunities that align with their studies.

According to Lori Bailey, program chair of Justice Studies, some students might find a direct path to a job from the connections they make. When the College last held this event, she says she is aware of at least twelve students hired as a result of their attendance.

“Every agency that is coming is hiring,” Bailey says. “There is no shortage of jobs in the Calgary area – whether in corrections, law enforcement, or justice – and, as an access college, we have excellent relationships with our stakeholders to create these opportunities for our students.”

She says these relationships have made graduates from the College’s Justice Studies programs sought-after by employers. The Showcase is an opportunity for students to ask questions, pick up business cards, and network with potential employers the College has built relationships with.

“The Justice Studies Career Showcase allows Bow Valley College to collaborate with the justice community and our local, provincial, interprovincial, and federal partners,” says Michelle Cole, associate dean in the School of Community Studies. “As an access college, we pride ourselves on supporting students to be work ready. This event provides students with career opportunities that are directly connected with their studies here at the College.”
