New Beginnings
September is a time of new beginnings. Summer is gone, kids are back in school, and we welcome new members to our alumni community. We want to celebrate your successes and help you build on them.
My role as Alumni Engagement Specialist is a new beginning, too. I’ve been here five months and each day I meet new people and collaborate on new projects. My vision is to build an engaged alumni community where together, we can share and connect with other curious and creative people, exploring opportunities together.
At Bow Valley College, we are always looking to create opportunities for learners, employees, employers, communities and our alumni. We already know that as an alumni, you enrich our community with your knowledge, experience and talents. That’s why we invite you to share, connect and grow with us.
As alumni, you can ‘share’ your experience by giving back to Bow Valley College students as a mentor or future employer. We hope to share your stories of success in this quarterly e-newsletter. The ‘connect’ applies to connecting with former classmates and encouraging them to join the alumni community at Bow Valley College, so that they can participate at alumni events and access exclusive benefits.
We also want to help you ‘grow’ as individuals and professionals. Our career coaches are available to meet with you and discuss your career path. We will also keep you informed about our new programs and post-diploma certificates that can help you take your professional career to the next level.
In this issue, we bring you stories of learning that leads to careers, and events that help you stay connected to our Bow Valley College community. We profile our June Convocation alumni valedictorian, Christa Breed. We recap our successful International Alumni Reception that took place in June. We offer tips to make your Thanksgiving feast more sustainable. We also inform you about great upcoming events, and other offerings that are available to you – our alumni.
Enjoy your first issue of Alumni CONNECTIONS and stay connected with us. I’ve included my contact information below. You have a lot of offer – and we want to offer you valuable programming and support.
Yours in community,
Veronica Mendoza De Luna
