Your myBVC email address and password is your key to unlock the other technology and services you may need as a student. Whenever you are asked to log in, you will usually use your FULL myBVC email and password. This includes common BVC services like:
- myBVC student portal
- myBVC email
- WiFi
- D2L Brightspace
- Office 365 (eg: Word, PowerPoint, OneDrive)
- BVC Library (online resources, computers, and printing)
It is important to keep your BVC login information private. No one from Bow Valley College or ITS will ever ask for your login information or password. Do not share your login information with anyone - including family, friends, or other classmates.
Bow Valley College also recommends setting up Multifactor Authentication to protect your account.
If you are a new student, the instructions to set up your myBVC account and password were sent to the personal email address you provided during the registration process.
Changing your password
If you forget your password, you can request a password change from the Password Reset page.
- Enter your Student ID and your birth date on the form.
- Check your personal email (the email you used to register at Bow Valley College) for the link to reset your password.
For more information, check out the Password Reset handout. You can also contact the BVC Service Desk in person (3rd floor, North Campus), or call 403-410-1611 to request a password reset. Service Desk staff will ask questions to verify your identity.
If you reset your myBVC password, you will need to log in to all BVC services again - including WiFi.
Your new password must follow these rules:
- Your password cannot contain your name, Student ID number, or birth date
- Your password must be at least eight characters or more
- Your password must use at LEAST three things in this list:
- Lowercase letter
- Uppercase letter
- Number
- Symbol (eg: !@*%)

Every time you log in to a BVC service, you need to provide your myBVC email address and password. You will also need to type in ANOTHER piece of information - this is usually a code that is sent by text message to your phone.
This extra piece of information is also known as two-factor or multifactor authentication. It's an added step to protect your account and prove that you are the person who is trying to log in. Even if someone has your username and password, they still won't be able to log in as you - they won't have your phone and can't see the text message code. This extra step keeps you and your information safe!
Instead of text messages, you can choose to use the Microsoft Authenticator app to approve login requests. It is free and available for Android and Apple phones. One benefit of the Authenticator app is that you can always log in, even if you do not have cell service and are unable to receive text messages. You can also set up and use the Authenticator app to protect your other personal accounts.
