Lead Academy will return in Fall 2023
Are you looking for ways to maximize your strengths and reach your leadership potential? If so, then LEAD Academy is for you! We’ll help you learn ways to develop your personal leadership style, as well as skills to engage effectively in life, school and community.
What is LEAD Academy?
The LEAD Academy consists of workshops and learning activities geared towards helping you become a better leader. You will learn and develop skills according to the 6 Pillars of Leadership:
1. Leadership and Me
2. Cultivating Self Awareness
3. Civic Engagement
4. Effective Communicating
5. EDI (Equity, Diversity and Inclusion) and Cultural Competencies
6. Effective Goal Setting
How do I register for LEAD Academy?

Who is eligible to participate in the LEAD Academy?
- Anyone registered in programs at Bow Valley College
When do I need to register for the LEAD Academy?
- Registration is ongoing and there is no registration deadline.
Is there a timeframe in which I must complete all the LEAD Academy requirements?
- No. Once program registration has taken place, the student must track their own progress and ensure that program requirements are met to receive a LEAD Academy Certificate.
How do I fulfill my volunteer requirements?
- Volunteer with BVC (co-curricular documentation required)
- Volunteer outside of BVC (documentation required from volunteer manager) *request form from Student Affairs studentaffairs@bowvalleycollege.ca
How do I receive my LEAD Academy Certificate?
To qualify for your LEAD Academy Certificate, you will need to meet the following requirements:
- Take at least 8 LEAD Academy workshops, one from each pillar is mandatory
- Take part in at least 10 hours of campus or community volunteering
- Complete and submit workshop reflections after each workshop
Apply to receive your LEAD Academy Certificate upon completion of the above requirements. Note: Students are responsible for tracking their own progress in the program. LEAD Academy Program Completion Certificate Request
Once you've met the requirements, you'll get your LEAD Academy Certificate. The work you've done will also be added to your co-curricular record.
