You can borrow books and audiovisual materials using your Student ID card. It is also a library card that allows cardholders to borrow library materials and use the facilities and services provided by the Library and Learning Commons.
Staff and faculty are automatically provided with library accounts and online access to the electronic resources of the library. Please bring your employee ID to the circulation desk to obtain a barcode that serves as a library card for borrowing materials.

There are three ways to renew library materials:
- In-person at the circulation desk.
- By phone at 403-410-1647.
- Online using My Account.
You will be unable to renew library materials if:
- Your borrowing privileges have expired.
- You have collected $10 or more fines.
- Another user has placed a hold on the item.
There are two places where library materials can be returned:
- The circulation desk during regular hours of operation.
- The after hours book-drop located by the library entrance on the second floor.

Note: Students who keep a textbook and laptop overnight will be charged a fine of $50.
For any lost or damaged items, library users will be charged the actual price of the item. The replacement fee of a lost laptop is $500.
An item overdue for 15 days is assumed lost. Borrowing privileges are suspended and the user is charged the overdue fine plus the replacement cost of the item.
Learners, staff, and faculty from the University of Calgary, the Health Information Network, St. Mary's University, and Ambrose University are entitled to borrow and renew library materials from the RGO Library and Learning Commons using their institution library card.
The Alberta Library (TAL) cardholders can borrow books from the RGO Library and Learning Commons as long as they adhere to the following policies:
- Present a TAL card issued by their local institution, a photo ID, and a proof of address when borrowing items
- Adhere to a two-week loan period for books and overdue fines of $1 per day per item
- Report any lost or damaged books to library staff
- Return borrowed books to a participating TAL library
