International Student Welcome (ISW) and the ELL International Student Orientation (ELL ISO) are mandatory. This year, these sessions will be taking place during New Student Orientation (NSO). Both ISW and NSO are critical to your success, by providing you information on immigration, understanding online learning, introducing you to academic success services, and student services.

What should I attend during orientation?

International students attend multiple orientation sessions during orientation days. Please note all orientation sessions will be conducted online.
ELL International Student Orientation (ELL ISO): This online session is mandatory for students who are entering the International ELL program in May. This is scheduled for May 4th, 8:00 am - 11:00 am [MST]. ELL students do not attend any other orientation sessions.
International Student Welcome: This online session is mandatory for international students who are starting a certificate or diploma program in May. This session is scheduled for May 3rd, 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm [MST], immediately following Day 1 of NSO, so international students do not miss out on any sessions while participating in the International Student Welcome.
New Student Orientation: This is an online, two-day orientation for students who are starting a certificate or diploma program in May. Attendance is mandatory, as these sessions will cover important additional information for international students. New Student Orientation takes place online on May 3rd from 8:15 am - 6:00 pm [MST] and May 4th from 8:30 am - 5:00 pm [MST].

How do I register for orientation?

All new students can register for NSO (which includes registration to ISW), through their MyBVC email accounts here

How do I prepare for orientation?

International students will be emailed a few video recordings in advance of ISW. Please review these videos to be prepared for your welcome session.

Pre-recorded videos will cover topics such as:
  • Immigration permits (study and work permits)
  • Arrival to Canada and quarantine processes
  • Academic and non-academic reminders
