Program Description

In this online program, you can develop your English skills while maintaining your work and family commitments. LINC Home Study is offered from Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) levels 3 to 8.  This program is open to Alberta residents (outside of Calgary) who are unable to attend LINC classes in person.

Students in LINC Home Study:

    • Meet with a teacher online for 30 minutes once a week
    • Do 5-7 hours of independent study every week
    • Need a computer with high-speed internet, camera, and microphone

  • Permanent Residents or Convention Refugee status
  • Minimum CLB levels: 3, 3, 2, 2

 

How to Apply

  1. Get a language assessment and referral to Bow Valley College from CLARC.
    Book online or call 403-262-2656.
  2. Get an Alberta Student Number
  3. Download and complete a Bow Valley College Application Form.
  4. Email the completed BVC application and your referral from CLARC to
    regionalLINC@bowvalleycollege.ca

 

What to Expect

  • You will get an email from Bow Valley College about your application.
  • You may be asked to provide missing information and additional documents. Please do this as soon as possible.
  • After you provide all the required information, you will be added to the waitlist.
  • You will receive an email or phone call from your teacher when a space becomes available.
  • You and your teacher will decide on a day and time to meet each week. This is your regular weekly LINC Home Study schedule. This schedule is not flexible from week to week.

You will need your own computer with high-speed internet, up-to-date operating system and software, and a microphone.

To start, you need CLB 3 in Listening and Speaking and CLB 2 in Reading and Writing.

No. The Bow Valley College LINC Home Study program serves Alberta residents (outside of Calgary) who are unable to attend LINC classes in person. If you live in Calgary, but cannot attend regular LINC classes, please contact The Immigrant Education Society (TIES) about their LINC Home Study program.
