I have a strong background in both critical and analytical thinking and have developed strong technical writing and research skills through my post-secondary education, and roles as a peer editor for the History Faculty's undergrad journal and informal peer helper.  These roles allowed me to compile statistical data and find creative ways to present information to uncover past behavioural trends.

My exceptional presentation and communication skills were refined through lecturing on my personal research and sitting on formal panels, as well over 10 years of customer service and sales experience.

The exposure to database administration and data analytics through my work for Elections BC also exposed me to the field of business intelligence and analytics, and I am happy to be currently supplementing this experience with technical training that will allow me to find a career path as a Data and Research Analyst.

Entrepreneurial in nature, I successfully ran my own catering company for 12 years. A skilled supertasker and rainmaker, master-of-planning, managing and executing concurrent responsibilities. Analytic thinker and strategic planner who anticipates needs and challenges before they arise, bringing both an entrepreneurial, big-picture view to all projects and the keen attention to detail necessary to translate big pictures into reality.

Believing information management is essential for the future growth and success of any business, I have decided to switch gears and challenge myself in the business intelligence and database administration sector.  I am looking forward to transitioning into a career in information management where I will get to use my analytical skills and my knack for getting to the heart of a client's needs.

I've been interested in computers since I got my first Commodore Amiga. Although I was told that women can't do IT, I took word processing and typing classes. I became an office administrator and learned how to use Microsoft Office products like Excel and Word.

I was frustrated with everyday sexism in life, and started making a web series about it. I was fortunate enough to receive the Bold As Brass Endowment award for my writing on that series. I also make short films that make people laugh and have recently branched into documentaries. These diverse experiences have taught me that I can work in any industry, even if it's "no girls allowed."

Now that I'm learning about databases, analytics, and BI, I'm looking to help businesses interact with their data. Relational data reminds me of constellations. I'm seeing how my administrative experience and other positions I've held in companies, have shown me just how people use data and how much I have to offer. My skills with storytelling help bridge the gap between IT and folks who are less experienced with computers. How can I help your company manage its data today?
