As students at Bow Valley College, your safety throughout this COVID-19 pandemic is important to us. We will be offering ongoing Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for students.
Please note that all information related to returning to campus can be found in the return to campus information area.
Where to get information
As a student, we will send regular updates to your mybvc email. We will also post the information on social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram), on the College website, BVC IE Connector email and through the CampusAlert app.

Student Support
Please visit Learner Success Services and click on the orange "Contact Learner Success Services" button for information about how to access services including Counselling, Learner Success Advisors (RISE Program), Financial Aid or Awards support, Career Services, Accessibility Services, Iniikokaan Centre, Academic Success Centre, the Library and Learning Commons and other support.
Learner Success Services are being delivered remotely so students can still access the support they need.
We understand that this may be stressful. Learner Success Services Counsellors are available to help you. Video and telephone appointments can be booked by emailing counselling@bowvalleycollege.ca.
All students have access to AC101- Academic Success 101, a free D2L Brightspace course. This course provides modules on Online Learning Strategies, MS Teams/D2L resources, Respondus Lockdown Browser and other useful tips for remote learning.
The RISE program is designed to help students overcome barriers to success. You can connect with the program by emailing learnersuccess@bowvalleycollege.ca to connect with a Learner Success Advisor for one-on-one support via phone or video.
Recipients will be notified through MyBVC email if they have been awarded a scholarship or bursary. You can also check the status of your award application on the Awards Portal www.bvcawards.ca .
All award cheques will be mailed to learners, and EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) payments will be directly deposited into your bank account. Please ensure your address is up to date on your BVC profile.
Tuition and Financial Support
For courses that are continuing through online delivery, it is unlikely that tuition will be refunded. Learners who feel that they have a special, extenuating circumstance, such as illness, that is preventing them from continuing in courses should email their request for a refund to studentaccounts@bowalleycollege.ca along with a full explanation of the reason they are requesting the refund.
Course & Program Academic Information
If you would like some advice or assistance regarding choosing your courses or guidance regarding courses you need to complete your program, please contact Academic Advising service by email (advising@bowvalleycollege.ca) or by leaving a phone message at (403-410-3456). The advisors will be very happy to assist you.
We are continuing to use Bow Valley College’s current grading system. Instructors have developed plans to complete the semester given the COVID-19 crisis and ensure learning outcomes are met. We acknowledge it may be stressful and challenging to adjust to remote learning while dealing with impacts of the pandemic to your lives. Some of you may be caring for family, dealing with finances, and/or being called into work as essential services personnel. Please contact your instructor directly about final exams and grades for your courses if you have questions or concerns.
If you can't continue in a course, the way to avoid an "F" grade is to withdraw from the course. We strongly recommend contacting Academic Advising at advising@bowvalleycollege.ca before making a decision. Options may include reducing your course load, seeking financial aid, or taking a temporary break. Course withdrawals can be completed through MyBVC.ca. To withdraw from your full program, including ELL, submit a program withdrawal form to registrar@bowvalleycollege.ca.
Classes delivered through MS Teams may be recorded by the instructor. Contact your instructor directly to see where they will make recorded classes available to students.

According to Alberta Education, all diploma exams have been cancelled until the end of June. Any learners enrolled in Grade 12 diploma courses will receive an update from the School of Foundational Learning on how their final grade will be determined.
As of February 14, the Test Centre will be open.
Practicums, Placements and Clinicals for the School of Health and Wellness (Practical Nurse, Health Care Aide and Nutrition Manager programs)
Further information regarding the delivery of the various components of your program and courses will be communicated by your instructors.
If you are starting clinical soon and unable to obtain one, please email ianodua@bowvalleycollege.ca for further direction.
Online police checks will be received by the department directly so long as it is properly shared with the department. The system will notify you when it is successfully shared.
PIC’s are valid for the duration of your program, except if you have been out of the program for two consecutive terms.

Effective September 6, 2022, Bow Valley College campuses are open to the public.
- We ask that you continue to self-assess your symptoms before coming to College campuses. If you are experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID-19 infection or any other contagious illnesses, please stay home to reduce the chance of spread.

SABVC has indicated SABVC members are still eligible to apply for the Open Cupboards Emergency Food Hamper program. To apply, just fill out the emergency food hamper request form on Open Cupboards Emergency Food Hamper Program and email it to opencupboards@sabvc.ca. Be sure to also attach your current class schedule as well as your student ID number in the email. In lieu of non-perishable food items, SABVC will provide virtual $25 grocery Walmart gift cards. Applicants will be responsible for purchasing their own groceries with the gift card. Please note that students are eligible to access the program only once per semester.
Online gift cards will be available Tuesdays and Thursdays.
