Bow Valley College's main campus is located in the heart of Calgary's downtown core. There's so much to see and do nearby, but here are a few of our favourite locations in our neighbourhood.
East Village
Bow Valley College is located at the gateway to the East Village, an exciting, growing neighbourhood. There’s plenty of arts and culture at the National Music Centre, Fort Calgary, and at all of the major public art installations throughout the area. You can also go to the Simmons Building for some great coffee and pastries, and restaurants. And if you’re looking to stretch your legs, head on over to St. Patrick’s Island to experience a 31-acre park area designed to bring people closer to nature.
Central Library
The Central Library features 240,000 sq ft of space and is home to special programs and spaces for children and teens, a technology commons, laboratory for innovation, and a centre that supports community integration and advancement. The Central Library is a landmark building of design excellence.
Stephen Avenue
Also known as 8th Avenue, Stephen Avenue is a short walk from the College. This pedestrian mall has great restaurants, cafes, pubs and bars. It also has plenty of stores, from boutiques to larger retail stores.
RiverWalk pathway
The RiverWalk pathway is located just a few blocks away from the College. The pathway system is very popular over the lunch hour, when downtown workers cycle, run, walk, and rollerblade next to the Bow River. This network runs parallel to the downtown core.
Prince’s Island Park
This is a beautiful, large park in downtown Calgary, which is also located just a few minutes’ walk away from the College.
Prince's Island Park hosts many large festivals and unique cultural events throughout the year.
The park is also just great for walking around, doing yoga, and getting together with friends for a soccer game, or to throw the frisbee around.
Shopping
The Core Shopping Centre is down the street from the College, just two stops away on the CTrain. The mall features a wide variety of retail and specialty stores, and there are also plenty of restaurants.
Bars and restaurants
Being a downtown campus puts us at the heart of Calgary's vibrant food and drink scene. There's always something nearby to try out. Looking for pub food, a great chain restaurant, or perhaps something a bit fancier to celebrate something like graduation? You will be spoiled for choice.
